Job description

The Steel Factory Manager will be responsible for overseeing the complete establishment of a steel manufacturing plant. This includes managing construction works, coordinating machinery installation, securing required permits, recruiting and managing staff, and ensuring the plant becomes fully operational within the required timeframe.

The role requires a candidate with proven experience in steel factory operations, fast-track commissioning, strong leadership, and the ability to make effective decisions under pressure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end factory setup and commissioning within 3 months.
• Supervise civil construction works, including foundations, buildings, and layout.
• Coordinate the installation of steel production machinery.
• Secure all necessary permits, licenses, and approvals.
• Hire, train, manage, and, if necessary, terminate staff.
• Establish production systems and operational procedures.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and labor regulations.
• Manage contractors, suppliers, and project timelines.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing steel factories, such as rolling mill, rebar, or similar operations.
• Experience in Africa, preferably Tanzania or similar markets.
• Strong track record in factory setup and fast-track commissioning.
