North Mara Gold Mine Limited

North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit a Senior Metallurgist to join North Mara team. The successful candidate for this position will carry out assigned metallurgical tasks within the guidelines of Company Standard Operating Procedures and Best Practice as well as other assigned tasks within the range of competencies.

The position will report to Superintendent – Metallurgical. This is a permanent role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all employees.
Supervise activities aimed at achieving metallurgical efficiency on the processing plant;
Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical accounting report;
Design and conduct metallurgical investigations on pit ore;
Develop and oversee test programmes and assist in implementing results to enhance plant performance
Monitor and optimize process plant reagents and consumables;
Compile and interpret statistical data for reporting;
Supervise to conduct inspections and schedule audits at the Process Plant and related facilities, and at relevant contractor’s work areas;
Supervise metallurgical inventory otherwise refer to as Gold in Circuit Survey;
Promote safety and safe work practices;
Train and provide training opportunities to Metallurgical staff to ensure they perform effectively;
Perform any other related duties assigned from time to time by supervisor;
Prepare periodic reports and close out corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

BSC in Metallurgy or Mineral Processing Engineering
Troubleshooting by visual inspection as well as utilizing trends from the SCADA system.
Gold room operation and smelting
Plant technical equipment calibration and management
Metallurgical Accounting and Reconciliation.
Plant optimization and Process control
Plant Mass balance
Budget Preparation
Advanced Excel Knowledge, functional and condition formula
Data analysis for metal balancing – Check in –Check Out
Sample management, preparation and analysis
Heap Leaching Knowledge

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

5 to 7 years’ experience as a Metallurgist, operating and maintaining gold recovery plants.
Intensive leach experience CIL /CIP Gold Plant.
Flotation Process – Copper Gold Concentrates.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

Good communication skills.
A working knowledge of appropriate software programs that will facilitate the reporting and control aspects of the project. These include Word, advanced Excel, and Microsoft Project, Pronto and Access or other database software and Outlook.
