MCB Company Limited is a company owned by Mbeya University of Science and Technology, established to provide professional services in construction industry, including engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, project management, and related fields.
The Company invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and reputable individuals to serve as Members of the Board of Directors.
Members of the Board of Directors – (6 Posts)
The Board comprises six (6) members, including the Managing Director, representing diverse professional disciplines such as Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, and Law.
2.1 Duties And Responsibilities
i. Provide strategic leadership and governance oversight by setting the Company’s direction, approving strategies, plans and budgets, and ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards;
ii. Ensure effective Board performance and management accountability by appointing, supervising and evaluating Management, setting performance targets, and ensuring implementation of Board decisions; and
iii. Oversee financial, operational and stakeholder performance by ensuring sound financial management, effective internal controls and risk management, efficient project and operational delivery, and protection of stakeholder interests.
2.2 Academic Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
i. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Law, or another relevant discipline from a recognized institution; and
ii. A Master’s Degree or PhD (MBA, MSc, PhD, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
2.3 Professional Experience
Applicants should have:
i. At least ten (10) years of relevant professional experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure development, business management, finance, economics, or legal practice.
ii. At least five (5) years in managerial or leadership positions.
iii. Previous experience serving on a Board of Directors or a governance committee will be an added advantage.
2.4 Tenure
Board Members shall serve a term of three (3) years and shall be eligible for reappointment for one additional term, subject to applicable laws and governing instruments.
2.5 Remuneration
The Board Members shall be entitled to remuneration and other applicable benefits as provided under the MCB Incentive Scheme.

Interested and eligible candidates should submit:
i. All applicants must be citizens of the United Republic of Tanzania and must be at least 35 years old but not more than 70 years old;
ii. Applicants should apply based on the information provided in this advertisement;
iii. Applicants should clearly indicate the position they are applying for (Chairperson or Board Member);
iv. Applicants must attach a detailed and signed Curriculum Vitae (CV), including the names and full contact addresses of three (3) referees;
v. Applicants must attach certified copies of their academic and professional certificates;
vi. Certificates awarded by foreign universities must be verified by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU);
vii. Certificates issued by foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced Level education must be verified by the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA);
viii. The submission of forged certificates or any false information will result in automatic disqualification and may lead to legal action;
ix. Applicants must attach a recent passport-size photograph and a certified copy of their birth certificate;
x. Applicants must possess a National Identification Number (NIN) issued by the National Identification Authority (NIDA);
xi. Only shortlisted candidates will be informed of the date of the interview; and
