Responsibilities 

• Ensure safe work practices by attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Monitoring and assessment of plant and electrical equipment
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial control systems using root-cause problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Perform high voltage switching and operate generators in support of operations to standard Operation procedures.
• Effectively inspect tools, report findings and complete given tasks in a safe and timely manner.
• Perform equipment installation and repair; and ensure tools / appliances integrity.
• Install, repair, and trace faults on HV Switch gears and protection relays.
•  Perform HV electrical devices installation and wiring.
•  Install, repair and trace faults on variable speed drives.
•  Accurately install, maintain, repair and trace faults on three phase motor starters, protective devices,
• Accurately install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot fault on three phase motor starters.
• Perform transformer installation and maintenance effectively.
• Ensure compliance to Standard Operating Procedures for safe work, daily when performing Lock-Out, Tag-Out, Try-Out (LOTOTO)
• Conduct scheduled equipment inspections on a daily, weekly, monthly and ensure identified defects are reported within the shift in accordance with the specific Standard Operating Procedure.
• Ensure compliance to Equipment Preventive Maintenance Schedule and duty performed effectively and accordingly daily.
•  Respond to calls on breakdowns and give them priority and manage them as soon as possible.
• Ensure inspection of Measuring/ Testing Instruments is conducted daily prior to use, and Calibrations are performed to OEM schedule or when required.
• Use Interpret OEM Manuals for maintaining and repairing required equipment accurately and to OEM Specifications and avoid discrepancies.
•  Ensure daily assigned Electrical tasks are implemented effectively and efficiently; and are completed to required standards.
• Ensure all required power tools and hand tools are inspected and maintained daily.
• Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures for all Electrical Maintenance and Repair work conducted daily.
• Ensure all Equipment used is always kept safely and correctly.
• Optimizing cost by ensuring expenditure on electrical work is not exceeding the budget; support reduction of wastage and repair before replacing parts where possible.
• Perform safe operation, switching, isolation, and restoration of HV electrical systems.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on HV equipment.
• Inspect and maintain substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and associated equipment.
• Diagnose and rectify electrical faults in plant and HV distribution systems.
• Carry out switching according to approved switching procedures and electrical safety requirements.
• Support planned shutdowns, commissioning, testing, and energization of electrical equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and switching records.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved safety procedures and manufacturer recommendations.
• Participate in electrical emergency response and troubleshooting activities.
• Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure reliable plant power supply.

Qualification requirements

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (NTA Level Four) or Trade Equivalent from recognized college.
• Electrical Trade Certification/ Full Technician’s Certificate/ VETA Grade One/ IMTT NTA Level Three in Electrical Engineering.
• Sound knowledge of Mining Safety Regulations and best practice.
• Valid Tanzania Driving License
• Certificate on HV switching and operation

Experience and competencies needed.

• 2-3 years in a Maintenance role responsible for electrical systems
• Demonstrated electrical experience in a processing plant equipment.
• Proven experience working in mining, process plants, or heavy industrial environments.
• Experience working with electrical equipment in:
  • Process Plants
  • Water Treatment Plants (WTP)
  • Filtration Plants
  • Brine Plants
  • Electrical substations
  • HV/LV switchgear systems
  • VSD and Soft starter 
  • Generators and RMU

Technical Skills & Competencies

The successful candidate should have practical experience with:

• High-voltage substations and distribution systems.
• HV switchgear, including vacuum circuit breakers (VCB) and SF₆ circuit breakers,
• HV switching and isolation procedures.
• Safe switching techniques and electrical switching programs.
• Electrical isolation, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and permit-to-work systems.
• Transformer operation, inspection, and maintenance.
• Protection systems, relays, and electrical control circuits eg SEPAM relays, SEL 
• HV cable systems, termination, testing, and fault finding.
• Busbars, isolators/disconnectors, earthing switches, and circuit breaker.
• Electrical fault finding, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance.
• Preventive and predictive maintenance of HV equipment.
• Inspection and maintenance of substations and switch rooms.
• Electrical testing and commissioning activities.
• Emergency response to electrical faults and power-system failures.
• Knowledge of PLC and SCADA system
• RMU switching and installation 
• Experience of Generator system and GSM technologies 
• Experience and knowledge of overhead and underground transmission line
•  Experience and knowledge of Variable speed drive, ABB, WEG, etc
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and schematics.
• Compliance with electrical safety procedures, mine safety standards, and statutory requirements
