Unicef Tanzania is looking for a candidate to fill the position of Health Specialist( Data, Information System Coordination, and Knowledge Management) to support the consolidation of Internal efforts on tracking data for monitoring status of essential health, nutrition, HIV and social services provision in Tanzania during and after COVID-19 outbreak.

How can you make a difference?

  1. Data and Information Systems Coordination
  • UNICEF internal coordination on data tracking effort for essential health, nutrition, HIV and social service provision Timely, sustainable, accurate and efficient data tracking for monitoring status of the provision of essential health, nutrition, HIV and social services to children and women is especially important during and after the COVID-19 outbreak  circumstances as to identify on-going challenges and gaps in essential service provision for both COVID-19 related and non-related

 

  • Coordination with the Government stakeholders and development partners for Monitoring &Evaluation and Information Communication Technology related matters ;Enhancing close working relationships with government counterparts and other development partners through proactive communication. And to also support capacity building and behavior change on data generation and use.
  • Promote data use for decision making process and behavior change; The Health Specialist will lead this exercise with the colleagues in the country office, implementing partners and government counterparts to institutionalize this exercise during routine planning processes. In addition, S/he will coordinate a new approach of data use for triggering behavioral changes such as introduction of accountability mechanism within data monitoring practice at health facility level.
  1. Knowledge management & implementation research coordination
  • Leading and facilitate any operational or implementation research related activities for health system strengthening and quality improvement initiatives for health-related sectors. S/he will also be a focal point for communicating with UNICEF’s local academic partners

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will be required to have;

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in medicine, public health, nutrition, biostatistics, social sciences, behavior change communication or another relevant technical field. Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree, such as health information systems, data and knowledge management, are an asset
  • A minimum of [Five years] of relevant professional experience  in Health and/or Nutrition-related programmes is required.
  • Having experience in supporting evidence-based planning and monitoring activities for developing countries is required
  • Successful experience in large dataset and complex information management, evidence based programming and expenditure tracking and financial analysis in Tanzania for both Health and Nutrition areas are required.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of local language is an asset.
