Job Description

The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective financial planning, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and sound financial decision-making. The role will provide financial leadership to the organization and work closely with management to support business growth, profitability, budgeting, cash flow management, and overall financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day finance and accounting operations of the organization.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide management with meaningful financial insights.
  • Monitor revenue, expenditure, profitability, and overall financial performance.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of accounting records and financial documentation.
  • Prepare management reports, financial statements, and financial analysis as required.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against approved budgets and investigate significant variances.
  • Provide recommendations to management on cost control and financial optimization.
  • Develop financial projections to support business planning and strategic decisions.
  • Monitor departmental spending to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
  • Monitor the organization’s cash flow and working capital requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure timely payments to suppliers, employees, statutory authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor receivables and payables and support effective working capital management.
  • Maintain appropriate controls over company cash and bank accounts.
  • Manage banking relationships and banking transactions where required.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective financial controls and accounting procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial legislation.
  • Coordinate tax filings and ensure statutory financial obligations are met on time.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Ensure proper authorization and documentation of financial transactions.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Review accounting entries and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Review reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper financial documentation and filing systems are maintained.
  • Provide financial advice and analysis to senior management.
  • Support management in evaluating investments, projects, contracts, and business opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved financial efficiency.
  • Provide financial information to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to improve financial processes and business performance.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop finance and accounting staff.
  • Assign responsibilities and monitor the performance of the finance team.
  • Establish clear financial procedures and ensure adherence to them.
  • Promote accuracy, accountability, and professionalism within the finance function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related field.

  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, with experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.

    Advertisement

  • Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, financial analysis, and internal controls.

  • Experience with accounting software/ERP systems.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax compliance.

  • Experience in healthcare or manufacturing is an added advantage.

  • Experience managing and developing a finance team is an added advantage.
