Job Title: Environmental Expert
Position Type: Fixed-Term Contract
Location: Tanga, Tanzania

Role Overview

The Environmental Expert shall ensure that all project activities comply with environmental laws, regulations, environmental management plans, and sustainability requirements throughout the construction period.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with approved Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs).
• Conduct environmental inspections and audits.
• Identify and mitigate environmental risks associated with construction activities.
• Monitor waste management, pollution control, erosion prevention, and rehabilitation measures.
• Ensure compliance with national environmental legislation and international best practices.
• Prepare environmental monitoring reports and compliance documentation.
• Coordinate environmental awareness and training programs for project personnel.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and local communities on environmental matters.
• Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive environmental actions.
• Support environmental incident investigations and reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Management, or related field.
• Relevant professional certification in environmental management is desirable.
• Must have served as an Environmental Expert in at least one airport construction project within the last ten (10) years.
• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in environmental management for infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience in environmental monitoring and implementation of ESMPs.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations and safeguards applicable to construction projects.
