The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Tanzania, headquartered in Makongo Juu, Dar es Salaam, is seeking to recruit one qualified Accountant to join its finance team. The ideal candidate should have proper qualifications, integrity, spiritual qualities, and relevant experience in accounting work.
This position requires a person who can efficiently manage financial records, prepare financial statements, and ensure compliance with applicable accounting procedures and standards.
Job responsibilities
The Accountant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of income and expenditures.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee payments and receipts of funds.
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Manage the budget and monitor its expenditure.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and accounting standards.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits.
- Maintain important financial documents securely and confidentially.
- Review compliance with legal requirements and provide appropriate advice.
- Implement recommendations provided in the auditor’s report.
- Prepare statutory payments, including NSSF, PPF, PAYE, SDL, and WCF.
- Prepare employees’ salaries.
- Audit internal control systems and recommend improvements.
- Conduct internal accounting audits.
- Prepare aging debt analysis and follow up on advances that have not been repaid.
- Assist in responding to queries from professional auditors.
- Assist in developing systems to increase the efficiency of the national finance office.
- Monitor expenditure reports and all issued financial vouchers.
Candidate qualifications
Applicants should meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
- Strong skills in using accounting systems and computer applications, such as Excel and accounting software.
- Good ability to analyze trends and financial statistics.
