St. Constantine’s International School is seeking a short-term A-Level Mathematics Teacher to join its teaching team from August 2026. The successful candidate will teach the secondary A-Level mathematics curriculum and support students’ academic progress, personal development, and preparation for qualifications and external examinations.

St. Constantine’s International School (SCIS) was founded in 1951 and is the oldest international school in Tanzania. It is also the largest international school in northern Tanzania.
SCIS is a not-for-profit, non-denominational, co-educational, day and boarding international school. The school is predominantly a Cambridge International School, following the EYFS programme in Early Years and the Cambridge International Programme from Years 1 to 9.
In Years 10 and 11, students study the Cambridge IGCSEs. In Years 12 and 13, students mainly follow the Cambridge A-Level programme. SCIS is also a proud member of Round Square.

Key responsibilities
The A-Level Mathematics Teacher will be responsible for teaching, planning, assessment, pastoral support, and wider contribution to school life.
Teaching and learning
The teacher will:
- Teach all areas of the secondary A-Level mathematics curriculum.
- Prepare and deliver lessons to classes of different ages and abilities.
- Plan, prepare, and present lessons that cater to the needs of the full ability range within the class.
- Motivate pupils through enthusiastic and imaginative presentations.
- Research new topic areas, maintain up-to-date subject knowledge, and devise and write new curriculum materials.
- Select and use a range of learning resources and equipment, including podcasts and interactive whiteboards.
- Keep up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.
Student progress and assessment
The teacher will:
- Take responsibility for the progress of pupils in the class.
- Prepare and mark work to support positive pupil development.
- Mark work, give appropriate feedback, and maintain records of pupils’ progress and development.
- Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils’ development.
- Prepare pupils for qualifications and external examinations.
- Provide feedback to parents and carers on pupils’ progress during parents’ evenings and other meetings.
Classroom and behaviour management
The teacher will:
- Organize the classroom and learning resources.
- Create displays that encourage a positive learning environment.
- Maintain discipline.
- Manage pupil behaviour in the classroom and on school premises.
- Apply appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehaviour.
Curriculum coordination and collaboration
The teacher will:
- Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum.
- Support colleagues in the delivery of the specialist area.
- Work with others to plan and coordinate work.
- Liaise with colleagues and work flexibly.
- Participate in departmental meetings, parents’ evenings, and whole-school training events.
Pastoral and student support
The teacher will:
- Undertake pastoral duties, such as taking on the role of form tutor.
- Support pupils individually through academic or personal difficulties.
- Meet with other professionals, such as education welfare officers and educational psychologists, if required.
School community and professional duties
The teacher will:
- Organize and take part in school events, outings, and activities, including those that may take place during weekends or evenings.
- Work with parents to maximize their involvement in the school and in the development of school resources.
- Supervise and support the work of teaching assistants, trainee teachers, and newly qualified teachers.
- Undergo regular observations.
- Participate in regular in-service training as part of continuing professional development.
- Undertake other duties as may reasonably be required.
Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- A diploma or degree in a relevant subject area is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience is essential.
- Experience with the English or Cambridge curriculum is desirable.
